SpeakUp Africa
SpeakUp Africa required our support to communicate its ‘March to Kigali’ advocacy campaign targeting audiences in Burkina Faso, Niger, Benin, Sierra Leone, Ghana, Nigeria, Senegal, Togo, Côte d’Ivoire and Cameroon. The campaign’s main objective was to drive petition signatures to call on governments, civil society organisations, and the private sector to work to implement all necessary actions to protect Africans from Neglected tropical diseases (NTDs) and malaria. To create the needed engagement, we leveraged influencers and locally relevant content. We developed key messages in the local nuances recognised in these countries. We created website articles and social media posts for Twitter and LinkedIn in a way that resonated with key audiences. We also recruited key local influencers across each country to participate in an advocacy program for the cause
Speak Up Africa secured thousands of signatures and pledges via the identified social media channels within a month. But more importantly, the commonwealth leaders committed to ending Malaria and NTDs by 2030.
